What kind of Expedition do you drive and what do you like and dislike about it?

I drive an 03 XLT.

I love how smooth and comfy the ride is.

I hate that the cargo area isn’t flat when the middle seats are down. I was hoping to keep an air mattress in there, but that’s not gonna happen.

'15 EL 4WD, limited. Wish it had tie-downs for the cargo in the back.

I forgot about that too. I keep a jump box back there and wish I could secure it.

Yeah, same. I miss that from my old '99 Blazer.

Exactly!

I just got a 2024 Expedition Timberline with the 501a package. I’m still in the honeymoon phase, so I can’t really be unbiased yet. It drives beautifully, and I love it.

That said, I do have a couple of gripes. The lack of real buttons or knobs for the AC and heating drives me nuts. Touchscreens are annoying when you’re driving and just want to adjust the temp. The rearview camera also feels a bit blurry, especially at night. It works but could be better for a pricey car.

One last thing—this thing has cameras all around, but none can work as a dash cam. Wouldn’t it make sense to let them record? I had to buy an external dash cam.

@Ash
I have a 2022 Timberline 501a. Totally agree about the climate controls. After two years, I’m used to adjusting the basics, but anything more complex takes too much focus.

The backup camera on mine is fine, but I’ve heard others complain about newer ones. And yes, onboard cameras should double as dash cams in vehicles at this price point.

@Nori
Have you liked it overall? I’m curious about what you think after owning it for longer.

I still love it. The power is great for its size, and the ride is smooth. I’ve had zero issues so far. Just regular maintenance—oil changes every 5,000 miles and tire rotations once a year. Brakes still look good at 23k miles.

It’s easily my favorite SUV or truck I’ve owned.

@Nori
Thanks for sharing! That’s great to hear.

@Nori
Same here! I’ve got a 22 Timberline too. Traded in a Challenger for it and haven’t regretted it.

@Nori
My biggest complaint is that everything rattles. The cup holder rattles if it’s not perfect, the seatbelt rattles, even the moonroof cover rattles.

@Ash
We’re getting the ‘24 Timberline 501a soon. I’m worried about the climate controls too. I wish we could wait for the ‘25 changes, but we need a car now.

Honestly, it’s annoying, but I don’t regret buying it. I considered waiting for the ‘25 as well, but my old car was falling apart, and the ‘24 Timberline was heavily discounted. Nothing about the ‘25 seemed worth waiting for.

@Ash
We’re taking advantage of the discounts too. Normally, we stick with Toyota, but the Sequoia’s cargo space was a huge letdown.

Same! I checked out the Sequoia TRD Pro first, but the hump in the back because of the hybrid battery was ridiculous. That’s when I switched to the Expedition Timberline.

@Ash
Yup! I preferred the Sequoia’s look, but the cargo hump killed it for us. This will be our first Ford, and I was impressed by the drive and clearance.

@Ash
We went with the XLT because of the bigger screen. I plan to modify it for off-road in the future. No complaints so far on our 2024 XLT!

2019 Platinum. LOVE the interior. It drives like a sporty car but feels like a luxury truck.

Hate the transmission and cam phaser issues, but Ford covered all repairs under warranty. Just did a road trip, and it felt like riding in a limo the entire time.

'03 Eddie Bauer.

Feels like driving a couch, but the fuel economy is brutal.
