USB Mod in Glovebox

Has anyone replaced the front seat AUX port with a permanent USB setup? Which one did you use, and does it hold up for road trips?

Yeah, I swapped mine out with a dual USB-C port last year. Got it from Amazon, pretty solid so far. Took maybe 30 minutes to install, no issues since.

I put one in the backseat for my kids’ tablets. Went with Blue Sea Systems—way more durable than the cheap stuff.

I tried doing this, but the one I bought wasn’t charging fast enough. Ended up going back to the original lighter and using a high-power adapter instead.

I swapped the AUX port with a USB outlet, but only for single device charging. Used a Scosche unit, it’s kinda slow. I would recommend going for something with higher output.

I just kept the cig lighter and bought a multi-port charger. Way easier and no wiring involved.

I wired a USB into my dash and connected it straight to the battery. It charges crazy fast but a bit overkill if you’re just plugging in phones. You’d probably be good with something plug-and-play.

I thought about doing this but worried about frying something with a bad unit. Some of those cheap USB chargers have pretty sketchy wiring. Anyone have issues with that?
