Hey folks, so I picked up a 2020 Expedition two years ago. Transmission now needs a full overhaul at 117k. Should’ve researched the transmission issues more before buying. Just venting—this is gonna hurt the wallet big time.
Ouch. That’s brutal. Transmissions are always the worst surprise, like finding a hole in your hiking boots after you start the trail. Any chance you’ve got some warranty left?
Man, that sucks. I had mine go out at 100k on an ‘18 model. $4k later, and I still flinch whenever I shift gears. At least you know now, right? Misery loves company
Yeah, Ford transmissions can be a nightmare. Mine slipped at 90k. Took it on a trip to clear my head, but just ended up cursing at rocks instead. Hope you’ve got a good mechanic lined up.
Why do transmissions always go at the worst possible time? I was on my way to a some annual ceremony when mine died. Ended up stranded. Make sure they give you a loaner vehicle for the time being.
117k and it’s toast? That’s harsh. My 2019’s still holding up (knock on wood), but I’m starting to get nervous now. Thanks for the heads up… and sorry for your wallet.
Consider it a lesson learned. I had a similar issue on my ‘17 F-150. I ended up downgrading my budget just to cover repairs. Guess we’re all in the same expensive boat
Thanks, guys. Makes me feel a little better knowing I’m not the only one. Guess I can hike away from my problems…
Good luck with the repairs though…
