Just filled up my 2005 Expedition, and it gave me a spooky Halloween surprise with the best MPG I’ve ever seen… Trick or Treat?!
I love resetting the MPG while rolling down a long hill. Feels great… for a second or two.

Can you explain why my gas gauge would do that?
Mine’s reading 15.3… highest in a while! Usually, it’s around 12-13. Might be a Halloween trick for me too
Your fuel gauge might be part of the high mileage reading. I thought MPG was calculated with injector timing, but maybe in ‘05 they were using the fuel level from the pump’s sending unit. Fixing the gauge might fix your MPG display.
@Cleo
Funny you mention that! I disconnected the battery for about 5 minutes, and it seems back to normal, between 14.9-15.7 MPG. Guess it was just a Halloween trick.
Hell yeah, brother!
How do you get it to display the gas mileage?

Keep pressing the info button until it pops up.

My ‘06 Expedition doesn’t have an info button. It’s all blank buttons in that spot. Could I add them from a junkyard? Would there be a harness behind them?
@Teo
You’d have to check if there’s a harness. If you’ve got an owner’s manual, it might show another way, or a junkyard manual could help. A dealership might also be able to help with those features.

Awesome, I’ll check it out today!
I don’t have an info button on my 2006, maybe it’s a lower trim.
