Rear suspension upgrade options for towing?

Hi everyone, I’ve got a 2008 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4x4. I towed a 5,000 lb trailer recently, and while it pulled really well, the rear sagged a couple of inches.

I’m wondering if there’s a suspension upgrade or add-on I can install to help with this. Any suggestions?

That amount of sag seems pretty normal. You might want to try a load-leveling hitch system.

Oh, okay. It did pull great, so maybe I’m overthinking it. Thanks!

You can install air bags to control the sag. Add air to counter the sag while towing and let the air out when not towing for a normal ride.

Are there specific bags I should look for, or will any general air bags for suspension work? Thanks!

@Shai
You’ll need to research what fits your setup. I’ve helped install air bags on my dad’s F250, and they worked great for towing and reducing sag. Definitely worth looking into.

Sounds good! I’ll check it out. I was worried I might’ve been blinding people on the freeway, haha.

I tow a 7,000 lb travel trailer with my 2007 Expedition Eddie Bauer EL. I use a weight distribution hitch, and it keeps everything level.

Good to know! Thanks for the suggestion.
