Ford just revealed the 2025 Expedition, and I’m curious what everyone thinks. New design, features, and some interesting upgrades. Is it worth the buzz, or did they miss the mark?
Starting price is $60k.

So basically $80k with the options people actually want.

Back when I sold these, most were $75k+ with the typical configurations.
Things I love:
- Split tailgate—super useful for camping, tailgating, and working.
- Tremor version with HO EcoBoost, locking rear diff, slight lift, and 33" A/T tires.
- Towing capacity is 7,000lbs vs 5,000lbs on the F-150.
Things I’m not crazy about:
- The front end design. The upswept headlights make the painted plastic look awkward. Would’ve preferred a more F-150-like front.
- Engine is unchanged. The EcoBoost is good, but I was hoping for a hybrid option or even a Godzilla V8. With no Lightning version and GM offering a diesel, it feels like a missed opportunity.
Overall, it’s solid but not groundbreaking. The Tremor might be worth cross-shopping with the AT4.
@Gray
We’re not getting a V8 version. Ford needs to meet CAFE standards, and these are already tough to comply with.
I’ve always liked the Expedition, but I can’t get over its poor safety ratings. The Explorer is much better in that area.
@Gray
Ford would be limited to selling 50 units a year to avoid CAFE penalties.
@Gray
My issue is the Tremor MSRP will be close to $100k, and that’s before dealer markups.

If anyone pays dealer markups, they probably shouldn’t be buying cars.

Agreed. Markups are ridiculous.
@Gray
A PowerBoost hybrid Expedition feels inevitable once they figure out battery placement.
@Gray
I actually like the front end and headlights. The split tailgate is awesome—I love it on Land Rovers, and I love it here.
But the interior? It’s a disaster. Why do manufacturers nail everything else and then botch something so important?
@Laine
I’m holding off judgment until I see it in person. Big screens don’t bother me—I’ve got one in my Lightning and I’m used to it. But the steering wheel does look a little cartoonish.
Ford claims the wide screen is better for driver safety since you don’t have to look down as much. We’ll see if that’s true or just marketing fluff.
Ford needs to make an Expedition Raptor already.

I feel like the Tremor package is their way of testing the waters for that. It’s true most of these won’t be used off-road, but with the Tahoe Z71 being so popular, it seems like a logical next step.
I doubt the Tremor’s off-road package will get much use.

Pretty much like a Tahoe Z71—mostly for looks.

It’ll see some action in snowy areas like Maine or Minnesota. Deep snow is where these packages really shine, even if they’re useless for true off-roading.
The interior design is awful.
