I’m considering a 2022 Expedition Timberline. It’s a 1-owner vehicle with a clean Carfax, well-maintained, new tires, and brakes. The asking price is $46K, but it has 58K miles on it. Is this a good deal?
Get the VIN and ask the dealership to run it for service history. Carfax doesn’t always catch everything—there was someone who found out their Expedition had an underhood fire that wasn’t on Carfax. Also, keep in mind the factory warranty ends at 60K miles.
@Emerson
Thanks for the tip. I really like it, but those miles are a lot for a two-year-old vehicle.

If you don’t feel good about it, don’t buy it. There will always be more out there.

Some 2022 models are closer to being 3.5 years old now. I looked at one with a build date of May or June 2021.
@River
I just test drove it. They couldn’t tell me much about its history. It drives okay, but I heard some noise near the engine—maybe it’s the tires?
Honestly, 2024 models are heavily discounted right now if you can stretch your budget.
That price is slightly below market average for the miles (source). Is this the one in Plainfield, Indiana?
@Bailey
No, it’s down south.

Wesley Chapel, Florida?

That seems fair for the price. What’s the exterior color? White tends to sell higher than green. We got a white 2022 last year with 9K miles for $65,900, but we added a 100K-mile warranty.
It’s green. How do you like it? I almost went for a Tahoe Z71 instead.
@Cedar
Not who you asked, but I have a white 2022 Timberline and love it. The only thing I’d change is the radio—while the giant screen looks nice, I’d prefer physical temperature controls.
@Cedar
The Expedition has much more power than the Tahoe, though the 6.2 in the Tahoe is nice if you can get it.
@Ty
Thank you for the detailed response. It’s tough to decide when prices are so high, and depreciation is still a big factor.
Get it certified by the dealer and add an extended warranty.
