Liftgate Troubles on My 2014 Exp

Hey all, I’ve got a 2014 Expedition, and it seems like the liftgate isn’t detecting when it’s closed. It keeps chiming like the door’s ajar. Anyone got any quick fixes? We’re hitting the road for a camping trip next week.

Maybe check the hinges, sometimes, a little dirt or rust can throw off the sensor.

Or just tie it down with some bungee cords. :joy: I had a buddy who did that for a whole road trip when his liftgate sensor went haywire. Not the most elegant solution, but it got him through the trip.

My Expedition’s liftgate started acting up after I spilled coffee near the control panel. A little wiring mishap can cause all sorts of chaos, so It could also be an electrical gremlin.

I read that sometimes resetting the system can help sort these electrical troubles, maybe try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. It’s like giving it a reboot!

I’ll definitely check the hinges and try the electrical cleaner. And I love the bungee cord idea—might just make it a camping tradition! :joy:

Bungee cords? You might as well just drive with your liftgate flapping in the wind! :joy: It could be a fun accessory, but I wouldn’t rely on that for a long trip.

It’s not pretty, but it worked for me when I was stuck on the road. Sometimes you just gotta improvise. Plus, it makes for a good story at the campfire.

Speaking of camping, do any of you take hiking gear on your trips? I’m always trying to fit my hiking backpack in the back. Last trip, I had to squish it under a cooler because my liftgate wouldn’t close right :see_no_evil:

I always have to play Tetris with my gear. I swear I have the world’s largest tent that’s impossible to fit :joy: If your liftgate’s acting up, you might need to find a new way to pack for your adventures.

I’ll keep you all posted on the liftgate situation, and if I end up using the bungee cords, you might see me on a ‘Ford Fail’ page :joy:
