Found a 2003 Eddie Bauer 4x4 with the 5.4 2V engine. It’s got 165k miles and has been with the same owner for 13 years. New OEM plugs and coils, new struts and shocks, transmission serviced at 120k. No rust, clean title, tires in great shape. Worth $4300?
$4300 is fair. If you don’t grab it, send me the link…

Deal, I’ll keep you posted!
We had an '03 Eddie Bauer as our first family SUV. Make sure the spark plugs are tightened properly or they could pop out.

Yeah, I heard about the older heads having fewer threads. These were just replaced, so fingers crossed they did it right.
I bought my 2003 at 132k miles for $6k about 7 years ago, now it’s close to 200k. It’s been great overall. Had to replace coils and plugs at 177k (original ones came out fine), swapped in Amazon coils. Changed intake manifold due to a cracked coolant passage and leaking gasket. Replaced belt, tensioner, and idlers while I was at it. A lean condition burned a catalytic converter so I had to replace it and the oxygen sensors. Original shocks still holding up. Watch out for city driving fuel economy—it’s not great. I average 9-11 mpg in the city, and about 15 mpg on the highway.

I forgot to mention a stalling issue that was traced to a faulty, non-removable fuel pump relay inside the fuse panel. Ordered a remanufactured panel and swapped it.

Sounds like yours has been through a lot but is still going strong. I’m torn between this or a 2000 GMC Jimmy with 98k miles. Hard to choose between these old beasts!

I grew up with Fords since my dad worked for them, so I can’t say much about the Jimmy. The 2V 5.4 can go 250-300k miles if you keep up with good oil changes at 5k miles and take care of the fluids. Timing chain guides are a known weak spot if not checked. The transmission, if serviced regularly, should last over 225k miles. Mine was supposed to last until 200k but it’s showing no signs of slowing down.
I have the same truck, but an XLT version at 250k miles. They’re solid. $4300 for one in great shape is a steal. Don’t pass it up.

Thanks! I’m planning to check it out tomorrow and will probably go for it. Now to get my Subaru sold (weird feeling since it’s newer than the Expedition!).
@Uma
Good luck tomorrow! Hope everything checks out. Enjoy the new ride!
