Has anyone else been in this situation?

I bought an Expedition Max in Austin on 07/10. The temp tags were supposed to be good for 30 days, which is normal. We called the dealership almost every other day because we had a special circumstance with our trade-in. Now, it’s way past the temp tag expiration, and they still haven’t gotten the title to the truck or even started the payoff to get the title. They keep saying, “We’ll have the title by next week,” but nothing yet. Is it just me, or does this feel super sketchy? I’m making payments on something I technically don’t own yet.

That sounds way off. I’d go up there in person and demand answers. Something doesn’t seem right.

There was a dealership in Dallas that gave me the runaround for weeks. Turned out they were waiting for some kind of paperwork from the previous owner. Maybe it’s something like that.

I think they’re blaming it on the previous owner too, but it feels like they’re stalling. Going in person sounds like a good idea.

If there’s a clause in your contract that allows you to return the vehicle if the dealership don’t deliver the title within a set period, that would be great.

Are you able to extend the temporary operating permits ? A buddy of mine got a 30-day extension on his temporary operating permits when his dealership took forever to process the paperwork.

Good one, I didn’t even think about asking for an extension. I’ll try that. Thanks

Man, I’d be fuming. You’re making payments on a truck you can’t even legally drive? That’s not cool. Definitely sounds like something you should escalate. Have you talked to the dealership’s manager yet?

If this goes on much longer, I’d be talking to a lawyer.
