F150 or Expedition… and is the V8 gone for good?

The V8 option for the Expedition has been gone for a while now. If Ford had kept it, they might’ve appealed to folks who prefer simpler engines over turbocharged ones. Feels like a missed opportunity.

The last Expedition V8 was in 2014. Even the 2015-2017 models were exclusively 3.5 Ecoboost.

It’s not always about gas mileage or power—it’s about the sound. Nothing beats the rumble of a V8 when you hit the gas. No Ecoboost or EV can replicate that feeling.

The Ecoboost is just a better engine, period. The only reason to go V8 now is if you’re chasing that nostalgia or engine sound. Otherwise, the Ecoboost is proven and outperforms it in almost every way.

@Vanya
Ecoboost might be better for some, but it’s also more expensive to maintain and more complex overall. For a lot of folks, the simplicity of a naturally aspirated V8 is worth it.
