Automatic Car Wash and Infotainment System Issues

Hey everyone, I have a 2023 Ford F-150 XLT and I’ve noticed some quirks when going through automatic car washes. The distance sensors on the truck go haywire and start flashing on the infotainment screen, switching between the sensors and the 360 camera. Also, my cruise control sometimes just turns off with a warning, but there’s no error code or clear reason. Has anyone experienced this? Ford hasn’t been much help in sorting it out.

I’ve have similar issues with my 2022 F-250. The sensors do act up in car washes—it’s like the system gets overwhelmed by all the water and foam. I always turn off the parking sensors before going through the wash.

Ugh, sounds frustrating, have you checked if there’s any moisture getting into the sensors or electronics with the cruise control? Sometimes, the wash can cause temporary glitches. If Ford isn’t helping, you might want to take it to a specialty auto shop that deals with electronics.

A quick fix is to disable the sensors manually before the wash. Also, for the cruise control issue, you might want to look into software updates or see if there’s a Technical Service Bulletin for your model.

That’s odd. I haven’t had issues with my F-150, but if it were me, I’d try recalibrating the sensors and camera system. Sometimes a reset can help. As for the cruise control, maybe check if there’s any debris around the sensors or if they’re misaligned.

I wouldn’t rely on Ford’s support too much; they’re not always the best with these issues. Try reaching out to a local car enthusiast group dedicated to Ford trucks. They might have more practical solutions or workarounds.

You could try applying some kind of protective coating to the sensors to prevent them from getting overwhelmed. For the cruise control, does it happen more often when the weather is bad? It might be a combination of factors causing the system to act up.
