Hey everyone, Quick question—does anyone know if Ford started including dye in the AC systems for the 2022 Expedition Limited models? I’ve heard mixed opinions and could use some clarity. Thanks.
I’m pretty sure they started doing that in 2021. I had a buddy who found dye in his ’21 model when he had to recharge the system.
I thought the same until I took mine in for service and they told me it’s not standard. Maybe it depends on the dealer or package? Just check your manual or ask your dealer directly.
I’ve seen mixed info too. My ’20 didn’t come with dye, so it seems a bit inconsistent across the years. Maybe you could just get a UV dye kit and add it yourself if you’re in doubt?
Thanks, everyone. I’ll definitely look into that. I guess it’s just one of those things that varies. Anyone else had trouble with AC issues after the dye was added?
Man, I had a slight leak in my ‘21 after they put the dye in. They only ended up finding it during a routine check otherwise…
My ‘22 had some weird AC smells after the dye went in. Not sure if it’s related, but it’s something to watch out for.
Ugh, that’s not what I want to hear. I was hoping the dye would help, not create more problems. But it’s good to know I’m not alone in this. Any advice on finding a good shop to check it out?
I have like this local guy who’s been around forever. He’s super honest and knows these models well. You might want to look for someone like that near you instead of a dealership.
Yeah sure, plus sometimes dealerships can charge an arm and a leg. Just make sure they have experience with Expeditions.
Great advice, thanks. I’ll start looking around
