2025 Expedition Trims... What's Changed?

Did the XLT and Limited trims get removed? The Active trim seems really basic, but I can’t even imagine what the King Ranch and Platinum trims will cost, especially the Max version. All I’m seeing in my area are Limiteds, so it’s hard to believe they’ve totally cut them out. What do you think?

Looks like Platinum is now the new Limited, and Platinum Ultimate is the new Platinum. Big changes there!

Okay, I didn’t realize there was a Platinum and a Platinum Ultimate. That clears it up a bit.

I was thinking the same thing. If you look at what they did with the Explorer, the Active trim seems to cover both the XLT and Limited. In my opinion, Active has more features than the XLT but fewer than the Limited. Then, you have the ST and Platinum trims. So, for the Expedition, they seem to have Active, two special trims (Tremor and King Ranch), and then Platinum. I’m waiting for the prices to come out before I commit to my purchase. I was leaning toward the 2025 Expedition, but after looking at spy shots and the new Explorer, I think the 2025 Expedition isn’t worth the wait and extra cost. Now, though, it looks like my Limited Stealth would have to be Platinum to get all the features I have. So, the large discount on the 2024 seems justified. The MSRP of a similarly equipped 2025 truck will probably be north of $84k with minimal discounts for a while.

Yeah, we’ve been thinking about upgrading to a Max sometime next year. I think we’ll go with a 2024 Limited, though. Hopefully, we can find a good deal on one with low miles.

I don’t know where you’re located, but I found dealers offering 12-14k off MSRP. I had a personal offer from Ford for a buyback on my Explorer, so I stacked everything and got 16.5k off a Limited Stealth. I’d say you should aim for at least 10k off, no matter where you are. Good luck with your search!

Looks like the Active trim has some features of the Stealth (303) with the blacked-out front grill. And the Stealth Performance (304) is available with the Platinum trim. I’m hoping that means massaging seats will be available with SPP (304), along with HD towing, CCD, and eLSD.

@Rowan
Massage seats are the one feature I miss, but I couldn’t get them on the Limited Stealth. I had them on my 2021 Explorer ST. I had Ford buy it back and ended up with the 2024 Expedition Limited Stealth (303). The 2024 Platinum had too much chrome for my taste (old school luxury). My wife wasn’t too excited about going from the blacked-out Explorer to a shiny chrome vehicle, so the Limited Stealth was the only option. It looks like the 2025 Platinum has a more modern style, without all that chrome.

@Finley
I came from a 2021 ST to a 2024 Expedition Limited SPP (304) and I definitely miss the massaging seats on longer trips! Some pictures of the 2025 Expedition Platinum show chrome, but others don’t. It looks like the Tremor trim doesn’t have the chrome beltline either.
