2022 Timberline to Navigator… What Parts Work?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to find out which parts from a 2022 Expedition Timberline might work on a 2022 Navigator. For instance, I’ve heard the doors on the Expedition and Navigator are basically the same. I’m especially curious about the springs and suspension since the Timberline’s seems to be a bit heavier-duty.

Does anyone know a good source for this kind of info or a place where I can chat with someone knowledgeable? I’m not looking for exact part numbers—just an overview of the main systems would be amazing. Any Lincoln or Ford experts hanging out here?

Are you thinking of putting Timberline parts on a Navigator?

Yeah, just curious to see if it’s even worth it or possible, broadly speaking.

Having the comfy Navigator interior with the Timberline’s ground clearance and off-road chops would be pretty sweet!

@Fay
Exactly :100:

Honestly, if the aftermarket would catch up on Expedition parts, this would be way easier. I’ve been waiting over two years for solid options for the Timberline—suspension, sliders, bumpers—but it’s crickets out there.

@Gale
Didn’t realize the aftermarket was so slow for the Timberline. That’s a shame.

Here’s a bit more info on the parts used in both the 2022 Navigator and Expedition Timberline. They share a platform and engine but are tuned for different goals: luxury in the Navigator and off-road toughness for the Timberline.

Engine and Powertrain

  • Both use a 3.5L twin-turbo V6, but the Navigator’s is tuned for smoother power delivery, while the Timberline’s focuses on torque for off-roading.
  • Both have Ford’s 10-speed auto transmission, with the Navigator’s tuned for smoothness and the Timberline’s for quicker shifts off-road.

Suspension

  • Navigator: Adaptive suspension with Road Preview tech for a comfy ride. Independent rear suspension for better handling.
  • Timberline: Heavy-duty suspension with special shocks for rough terrain and skid plates for protection, which the Navigator lacks.

Brakes and Wheels

  • Navigator: Larger brakes for its extra weight and smooth highway performance. Usually 22-inch wheels with tires for a quiet ride.
  • Timberline: 17-inch wheels with Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires, reinforced brakes for off-roading.

Interior and Tech

  • Navigator: Premium materials like leather, wood, and a high-end sound system with extra sound insulation. It has a tri-zone climate system.
  • Timberline: Durable, easy-to-clean materials, dual-zone climate, and a simpler but capable audio system.

Driver Assistance and Exterior Design

  • Navigator: Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Plus with advanced driver-assist features, bigger infotainment screen, and luxury design.
  • Timberline: Ford Co-Pilot360 focused on off-road features, 12-inch screen, rugged design with protective bumpers and skid plates.

In short, the Navigator has more luxury parts while the Timberline has components aimed at rugged use. Each one is suited to its own role—either high-end driving (Navigator) or off-road (Timberline).
