I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on a 2022 Expedition XLT this weekend. It was built in May 2022, but all the transmission talk is making me nervous. Any advice?
Bro I have a 2021 Expedition and the transmission’s been smooth, I’d say go for it unless you’re hearing weird noises on the test drive.
Transmission did give me issues on the 2022 limited, but dealership swapped it out. Been solid since. Just make sure to get that warranty
I have the same model, no problems at all. But man, those gas prices…
Buddy, if the tranny blows, just say it’s part of the adventure, right?
Check the build date, bro. Anything after March ’22 should be fine. Early models had more issues.
Transmission issues? More like the whole car’s allergic to smooth roads. My 2019 feels like it’s in a relationship with my mechanic.
@UrbanExplorer It was built in May, so I should be good, right? Just nervous about all these stories floating around.
Yeah, May build should be clear. But like someone said earlier, a warranty should be your best friend.
Yeah, I’ll definitely ask about that warranty. Did you get any other issues after the swap? @TrailBlazinSUV
Nope, after they replaced the transmission, it’s been all good. But I still give it the side-eye every once in a while, just in case.
Haha, gas prices though. You’re paying for all that comfort, right? Or are we just funding our local gas stations?
For real, I feel like I should get a discount for every fill-up. But honestly, I don’t even mind, the ride’s cool.
Hahaha, so true. I named my Expedition “Ol’ Reliable," because of its relationship with my local mechanic
If I gave mine a name, it would probably be “Second Mortgage” with how much I’m paying for repairs.
I swear half the Expedition owners are either living at the gas station or their mechanic’s garage. It’s a lifestyle at this point.
Right?! Thanks for the comfortable seats as we wait for AAA.
LMAO. That’s true. I could nap in mine and call it a day.
