Looking at the 2018 Ford Expedition LIMITED and wondering if it lives up to the hype. Is it really built for adventure, or just for school runs and trips to the grocery store? Let’s hear your thoughts!
Skylar? Haven’t heard that name in ages. Sounds like the kid whose mom always wants to speak to the manager.

And Skylar is probably driving his dad’s old BMW, selling weed and acid.

Schuyler was the OG spelling, then Skyler became the cool version in the 90s. Now people might as well name their kid Schuylkill.
@Fern
And send them to school on the Schuylkill bus.
@Fern
Why would anyone doom their kid to being associated with Southeastern PA forever?
I like that they brought back pieces of the F-150 interior, but I wish they’d go full 2002 and offer a bench seat option. With a vehicle this wide, you should be able to seat three across in every row.
@Frost
Sadly, those days are gone.
They’re still available on the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon, just not the Expedition anymore.
@Frost
I had an '01 with the front bench seat. It was amazing! I could fit 10 people and all their stuff comfortably.
This car embodies everything I dislike about modern SUVs.
My parents are getting one to tow their horse trailer.

That’s a solid use for it.

If you’ve got a trailer, boat, or anything heavy to tow, it’s hard to beat the Expedition unless you go for a Navigator.
The Expedition, Escalade, and Navigator are the vehicles I actively avoid on my motorcycle. The drivers are either leaning way back in their seats, distracted by six kids, or just not paying attention. Altimas are my main car concern, though.
SUVs like this aren’t inherently safer; they just shift the risks onto everyone else on the road. You don’t need an SUV for your kid’s soccer practice.

My comment about “expeditions” was sarcastic, pointing out how they’re mostly used for mundane tasks. But yeah, your point about safety is valid.
@Logan
Ford should rebrand it as the “Minivan Alternative for Fragile Masculinity LIMITED.”

So it’s safer for the people inside? Sounds like a good deal to me.
@Jesse
Not really. SUVs are only safer in specific scenarios like head-on collisions. They roll over more easily, handle worse, and can make drivers overconfident, leading to riskier behavior. Here’s more info: Criticism of SUVs.
