Hey folks, need help, the fuel pump died just after filling up the tank. I’ve got about 22 gallons in there, and now I’m trying to siphon it out so I can drop the tank and swap the pump. I stick the hose in and it won’t pull any gas. It hits something about 4 feet in and just stops. No gas comes out—just fumes. Gauge says it’s full, and I literally JUST filled up. Is there some kind of anti-siphon thing in there, or am I missing something?

Yep, sounds like the anti-siphon valve. Ford’s great at keeping you from stealing your own gas. 
There’s a check valve in the filler neck. No easy way to bypass without dropping the tank. Fun times, huh?
Try going from the fuel line instead. Ford ain’t making it easy.

Has anyone actually found a way around it? Or am I just doomed to drop the tank the hard way?
I had to remove my tank, bro. It was either that or try breaking into Fort Knox. 
Yeah, drop the tank. Siphoning on Expeditions is a pain. Welcome to the club… Haha.
Take it from me—don’t mess with the siphon. Just bite the bullet, drop the tank.
@LumenPath – If you DO drop the tank, get yourself a fuel line disconnect tool. Trust me on this one.

Hahaha Yeah, the UPS guy knows my dog by name at this point. Last thing I bought was a new torque wrench… because why not?
My wife’s still mad I “accidentally” ordered a lift kit for the Expedition. Now she refuses to drive it.

Anyone else have issues with gas spilling when they drop the tank? I swear half my driveway was covered. Thought I was going to get a visit from the EPA.
@SkyVoyager Trust me I had to throw down a whole bag of cat litter on gas spills.
Oh man, yes. Nearly torched my Expedition trying to lower the tank. Pro tip: Get a buddy to help.
OR have a fire extinguisher nearby… just sayin’.
