Wife’s Christmas present - 2021 STX

Picked up a 2021 STX for my wife this Christmas, and honestly, I love driving it myself! It’s comfortable, spacious, and surprisingly quick. Hands down, it’s our favorite vehicle we’ve owned so far.

Damn, you outdid me. I just got my wife a coat.

Haha, we needed a bigger car and just happened to buy it in December.

He’ll wish he bought a coat once that thing starts breaking down. Biggest mistake I ever made was buying my Expedition.

Same.

@Teo
It’s the worst car I’ve ever owned.

I laugh because I blew a coolant line on the coldest morning of the year. I drove home with no heat, and 10 minutes away from the house, it overheated. By the time my husband got to me, I was numb. It’s definitely a love-hate relationship with my Expedition!

@Kade
Mine stopped accelerating in traffic in Nashville. I barely managed to get over four lanes and off the interstate with three kids in the car. Ford said nothing was wrong, maybe the axle. Later, the transmission failed. Ford corporate dragged their feet and wouldn’t fully cover it, even under warranty. Repairs have been endless—cam phasers, turbos, seats, sunroof, and more. It’s cost us over $20,000 in less than two years. Worst mistake ever.

@Aeron
Holy cow! I have a 2013 and thought about upgrading, but hearing stories like yours makes me think twice.

If you do upgrade, go for 2023 or newer. I think they fixed the issues after 2022.

@Aeron
I’ve been leaning toward an Explorer or Edge instead. I love my Expedition, but the 12 mpg hurts. I spend $84 on gas just driving around town.

Congrats! I’ve got a ‘21 XLT and blacked out the grille and Ford emblem. It’s been great—bought it with 38k miles and now it’s at 76k with no issues.

Sweet ride! I bought my wife a 2022 Stealth for Christmas.

We had a 2022 and never had a single issue. Loved it—roomy, smooth, fast, and great to drive. Only sold it because we needed a truck for a 5th wheel. FYI, I work at a large Ford dealer, and the only consistent issue I’ve seen is with the transmission, but it’s not super common.

@Amari
So far, we love it. It handles really well for its size, and the MPG is better than our 2012 Highlander. That one has 193k miles and has been a great vehicle too.

So you bought her a bunch of mechanical problems. Congrats. Hope you got an extended warranty—you’ll need it.

Certified pre-owned with a 10-year/125k mile warranty.

Good luck with that. Mine cost over $20,000 in repairs in less than two years. Everything breaks in these things.

@Aeron
Maybe you got a bad one. Everyone in my town loves theirs.

The 2018-2021 models are notorious for issues—transmissions, cam phasers, turbos. It’s not just me, trust me.
