When is this supposed to happen? Ford’s been promising a new Expedition for ages.
It’s coming for the 2018 model year.
That lines up. Expect big updates for the Navigator too.

Well, you were right—they just announced it.
@Corey
Called it.
The Expedition has better handling and ride quality because of its independent rear suspension. Plus, the third row is the most spacious of any full-size SUV.
I’ve owned a few Suburbans and rented Expeditions. Here’s my take:
So if you’re just looking at ride comfort, the Expedition is nice. But overall, I’d go Suburban.
@Zinn
Does that hold true in OP’s price range? $15k puts you in a 2007-2008 model year for both.

I got a 2010 Expedition Limited for just under $15k, and it’s been great—no complaints here.

Even the older Suburbans have a nicer interior. The dash and design feel more car-like compared to the Expedition.
Have you looked at the Toyota Sequoia? It’s worth considering too.
Sales numbers are actually pretty close—within about 10k units a year, depending on the time frame.

If you count all GM models—Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, etc.—they sell way more SUVs than Ford does.
@Lior
How can you compare four models to just one? That’s not fair.

They’re all in the same segment and competing for the same buyers, so it’s a fair comparison.
