Looks like Ford refreshed the Expedition and added an off-road Timberline trim. Thoughts?
@Ashby
This reminds me of Hyundai’s Veloster N… or actually, the whole N lineup.

At least the N line is sporty, though.

I still hate it. Kia did the same thing with those turbo Souls. It’s overdone, lazy, and honestly kind of ugly.
I prefer something subtle, like the TL Type S. Those wheels alone make a statement from blocks away.
@Clay
The little red S on the Type S badge just hits different. It’s all you need to show it’s special.
@Ashby
Subaru has the anodized copper accents on the Wilderness trims. The orange accents are just for their Sport trims.
@Ashby
I like red accents personally.
@Ashby
I think it looks cool on the Explorer Timberline, but it’s not as great on the Expedition version. Still, I like it on Subarus and even think the Civic Type R’s styling is fun. Guess I’m the target audience for these designs.
This Timberline trim looks good, but I don’t love the name. Feels off somehow.

Funny thing is, they’ve had the FX4 package for a while now. Skid plates, bigger tires, shocks, all that. I rarely see them on the road, though.
@Davi
The Timberline trim adds better ground clearance and approach angles compared to FX4. Plus, it has a locking differential.

There’s no Tremor version of the Expedition. Timberline is the SUV version of a more mild off-road package. Tremor’s reserved for trucks, which have more hardcore upgrades.
@Sage
The confusion might be because FX4 isn’t a full trim—it’s just a package. You could even get an XL with FX4 if you wanted.

Good point. Ram and Nissan make their off-road trims separate models, which might explain why FX4 feels less unique.

Seems like Chevy did the same with naming their off-road trims—Z71, Trail Boss, etc. Maybe Ford’s heading towards tiered off-road trims too?
@Davi
It’s funny that you get all this off-road gear, but then they throw it in a luxury SUV with heated leather seats, panoramic sunroof, and a boosted 3.5TT engine. Feels over the top for rock crawling!

Off-road trim names are so cringey in general. ‘Trail Boss’? ‘Rebel’? Really?

Trail Boss is next level cringe. When I had one, I wanted to peel off the badge every single day.
@Koa
Oh, but the Trail Boss with Realtree decals is peak cringe. Calm down, Chevy.

Would a Yeti sticker make it better?
