Saw the new 2025 Ford Expedition and wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts. Love it? Hate it?
Honestly, I still think the late-model 3rd gens look the best

Agreed! I love my 2016 Expedition.

Man, the 2015-2017 models were perfect—boxy but still nimble, packed with tech, and just looked tough. Ford really nailed it with those!
@Quincy
I bought a used 2016 back in 2019 with only 19K miles on it. Just paid it off today with 106K miles—been an awesome family vehicle so far.

Congrats! These things are built like tanks. Basically a truck with an SUV body. I picked up an '06 Expedition off Marketplace for $4K, only 130K miles, no accidents. It’s big, semi-luxurious, and tough. Love it!
I plan to grab a 3rd gen once prices drop a bit. Any issues with yours?
@Quincy
The plastic trim around the shifter disintegrated, which was annoying, but fixable. Also, my buddy’s Lab puppy chewed up my third-row seatbelts . The seatbelts themselves are cheap, but installation will cost me $600.
@Lyle
Yeah, people complain about the old Triton motors, but Expeditions are some of the most reliable SUVs out there—at least the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gens. I can’t speak for these newer, sleeker ones that look more like crossovers.

Picked up a 2016 Expedition last year with 32K miles, and we love it! The only issue so far is occasional Bluetooth glitches. My biggest concern is the cam phasers, but I stay on top of oil changes every 5K miles with Amsoil 5W-30.
@Darcy
Man, you found a gem! The only weak point on these older ones is the electronics. Had an ABS module fail, and the dealer took 2 months to diagnose and fix it.

The big boxy look was just better, IMO.
I like the side profile and taillights on the 2025, but I hate the grille and headlights. The light bar looks like an afterthought—like they just threw it on to follow trends.
The rear would look better without the piano black trim. If they went body-colored, it would be much cleaner.
Interior? The steering wheel is an improvement, but the instrument cluster and dash design are a huge downgrade.
Final verdict: 2025 looks worse.
The off-colored tailgate is bad, but the worst part is the dashboard. Luckily, even if I sold a kidney, I still couldn’t afford a 2025, so I don’t have to worry about it.
Not a fan. The styling feels like they asked AI to design an Expedition based on the 10 best-selling SUVs and just mashed them together.
The interior is awful.

I wish they’d just copy the F-150 interior like they used to.

THANK YOU! How does a company spend millions on R&D and still not know what their customers actually want?

I like my 2022 Timberline, but I’d love to see a full-size Expedition Raptor.
@Tilden
That would be wild! I could see Timberline morphing into a Tremor package like the F-150 lineup.
