Thoughts on a 2020 Ford Expedition Limited MAX (Gold Certified)?

I’m considering a 2020 Ford Expedition Limited MAX with Ford’s Gold Certification. It looks like a good deal, but I’m hesitant because I feel like the car market might drop this summer. I don’t want to buy it now only to see similar ones going for $30k in a few months.

Here’s the listing: 2020 Expedition MAX.

Any thoughts or advice? Should I wait it out or go for it now?

Honestly, just get a Toyota or Mazda. Those are the only brands worth buying. Everything else is just a money pit for people who don’t do their research.

I’ve probably done more research than I should have, honestly. If Toyota made something in the same size class as the Expedition Max or Suburban, I’d be all over it. But they don’t, so here I am.

I was kidding. This sub is basically a Toyota fan club, so someone was bound to suggest a Japanese car. You could look into a Sequoia V8 in the low $30k range or a Highlander V6 for a bit less, but yeah, those won’t give you the kind of space behind the third row that you’re looking for.

Yeah, the Sequoia and Highlander are just too small. I really need the extra trunk space for my setup. Thanks, though!

That engine has some potential issues to watch for. Tiny screens on the oil feed lines to the turbos can gum up, leading to turbo failure. Then there’s the well-documented water pump issue that can ruin the engine.

As for the transmission, if the 2020 still has one of the earlier 10-speeds, those had some kinks that are just now getting worked out. Ford’s track record with drivetrains is hit-or-miss, so proceed with caution. The Gold Certification warranty is definitely a plus, though.

Appreciate the feedback. I’m pretty sure the 2020 Expedition, Suburban, and Yukon XL all share the same 10-speed transmission, right? It’s good to know about the potential turbo and water pump issues, though. That warranty might come in handy.
