Thinking about a 2019 Expedition… is it worth it?

Looking at a 2019 Expedition with 102k miles. Dealer is asking $24k. Any advice or things I should watch out for?

I’m in the market too. I’ve got a 2019 F-150 but need more seats. Be cautious though… 2018-2022 Expeditions are known for cam phaser and transmission issues. Definitely check the Carfax and think about an extended warranty from Ford. I’ve heard about electric and alignment problems with these years too. That said, my F-150 has the same transmission, and so far, no major problems.

I have a 2019 Expedition Max Limited. Got it for $25k with 106k miles. Love it so far! But yeah, make sure the cam phasers have been fixed. It’s a common problem.

Does the dealership offer any kind of warranty with it?

That’s a lot of miles. Do you know if they’re mostly highway or city? Highway miles are a lot easier on the car, but city driving really wears things down, like mounts, transmissions, and CV joints. Makes a big difference.

Where are you located? A friend of mine in Texas is selling his 2018 Expedition Max with 99k miles for $18k. Might be worth looking around more.

The 10R80 transmission issues weren’t fully fixed until 2022, and I think the cam phaser problem wasn’t resolved until 2020. If neither has been addressed on this one, you could be looking at over $10k in repairs. Be careful!

I’d avoid it. Mine’s been in the shop for a month dealing with transmission issues and getting the cam phasers replaced… again.

I just got a 2020 Limited Max with 85k miles for $27k. Keep searching. Mine even had the transmission replaced at 40k.
