Numbers just don't add up… double-check all your figures before signing a car deal!

I noticed something weird on my purchase agreement: lines 1 and 2 don’t add up to line 3, and somehow $975 was added out of nowhere. After I signed, I contacted the dealership thinking they’d refund it, but instead, they want me to sign a new contract with line 1 raised by $975. I haven’t even gotten the vehicle yet; they’re still doing the clear bra, tint, and ceramic coating. I still have my trade-in in the meantime. Just a heads-up—always double-check those numbers!

Did you try working out the math yourself? It shows the same taxable amount, but still doesn’t actually add up right, even after adding taxes. Just curious… are you paying MSRP for the Expedition? Not to offend, but this deal sounds rough. Secure Fusion and the extended warranty are just add-ons that you can get way cheaper. Even stuff like tint and ceramic coating can be done better elsewhere.

@Quince
Appreciate the advice! I might ask them to remove all those extras. As for the deal, it was actually better than the other four Expeditions we looked at, mainly because of the trade-in value they offered. We didn’t talk about extended warranties yet… any recommendations?

For sure, stick to the Ford protection plan and get it before the factory warranty expires—it’ll be cheaper. Avoid non-factory extended warranties.

Yup, dealerships really push warranties and add-ons since the profit margins on new cars are slim. Service departments make good money doing these ‘extra’ services, too.

@Quince
Wait till you hit about 36k miles, then get the Ford ESP. They let you finance it at 0% for 18 months, no credit check, and they’ll cancel it if you stop paying. Also, what was the MSRP?

Almost $5k for an extended warranty? Way too much. Skip that and shop around at other Ford dealerships for the Ford Protect plan. I paid $2800 just before my factory warranty ended, got a 100k-mile bumper-to-bumper with a $100 deductible.

@Oakley
Totally agree! I got an 84-month, 150k premium care warranty through Granger for $2555. Worth looking around.

It’s honestly ridiculous how some dealerships treat customers buying these $90k cars. Can’t believe the lengths they’ll go to squeeze out extra money.

$3,300 in fees :flushed: Next time, hit me up and I can help you out!

Which fees specifically are you talking about?

Word of advice: avoid getting ceramic coatings from dealerships. It’s usually just spray-on ‘ceramic sealant,’ not the real thing.

Thanks for the heads-up! I’ll try to get it taken off the bill.

@Asa
I’m a detailer, so if you have questions just ask. My buddy does window tint too—$150 for the fronts, $400 from the dealer is crazy.

This deal really doesn’t sound great. A bit of travel might save you thousands. I drove a few hours to save almost $9k on mine.

FYI, dealership GAP insurance is overpriced—get it from your regular car insurance, way cheaper.

$800 for a ‘ceramic finish’? Total scam.

Honestly, you might want to back out of this deal.

Wait… do you have GAP coverage on this?

Sounds like you could have grounds for a lawsuit here… fraud maybe? Mention it and see if they’ll give you a discount.
