Never thought I'd own one

Finally took the leap and got a Ford Expedition. It’s definitely a change for me, but so far, I’m enjoying it. Excited to see how it fits into our daily life!

Take it back. This car has been a nightmare for me! I’ve spent nearly $20,000 in repairs within two years on my 2018 Expedition. From the transmission to the sunroof and seats, it’s been nothing but issues. Ford’s customer service has been less than helpful. I’ll never buy another Ford vehicle.

Any thoughts on that 10-speed transmission? I’ve heard mixed reviews. Thanks!

It’s been good for me so far. I’ve got a 2021 with nearly 70k miles. Just make sure to reset the transmission if it was pre-owned. The transmission learns driving habits, so resetting it helps it adapt to you rather than the previous owner.

@Blane
I didn’t know about the reset. Thanks for the tip!

You can do it yourself. Look it up—it’s as simple as unplugging the battery for 30 minutes.

I have it in my 2019 Max, and it’s mostly smooth. Occasionally, it struggles to stay in 10th gear around 50 mph, but overall, I’m happy with it.

Awful. My 2018 has had nothing but issues, including the transmission. If you’re considering it, I’d think twice.

Congrats! My wife upgraded to an Expedition after we had kids, and it’s been a great choice for our family. Enjoy!

Same here! Started with a sedan and worked our way up to an Expedition Max after four kids.

Good looking Expedition!

I have a 2019 Max Platinum, and I love it. Just make sure to tint those front windows—it makes a big difference!

My wife has a 2019 Platinum Max with 65k miles. No issues so far, but we got the extended warranty just in case.

I’ve been renting one for monthly trips, and it’s fantastic for road trips.

Same here. It’s my go-to rental for work trips—plenty of space and power.

I had a 2016 Expedition, but the transmission went out, and I had recurring issues with the EcoBoost engine. I switched to a Lexus, and it’s been much better.

I’ve got four years of warranty left, which should get us through the bulky car seat phase. After that, I’m considering switching back to Lexus for the new GX 550.

I would never want to own one.

It’s not my main car, so it’s manageable for us.

There’s really no need for vehicles this massive.

I’ve got seven people in my household, so we need the space.
