Just bought a 2021 Expedition Limited—so excited!

I finally found the perfect 2021 Expedition Limited with 68,000 miles, and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ve been looking for one for a while and did tons of research (probably way too much, if I’m being honest). This one has a great history, is super clean, and drives like a dream.

I did get a 3-year warranty just to play it safe. Fingers crossed this one turns out to be one of the reliable ones! Anyone else have a 2021 Expedition? What’s been your experience so far?

Congrats! I have a 2021 Max Limited and love it. Only issue I’ve had is with the rims—the previous owner must’ve used some bad cleaning products because they’re peeling.

Thanks! Glad to hear you’re loving yours (minus the rim issue).

I had an ‘18 Expedition Limited, and it was an amazing vehicle. I’ve got a 2020 Navigator now, which I love despite some quirks. The Expeditions are great, but watch out for occasional transmission issues.

@Vern
What kind of issues are you referring to? I’m considering a 2019 or 2020 Navigator L but can’t find much info on reliability.

I’ve had my Navigator for two years and put 30k miles on it. Minor issues include a broken console bin door and seat light borders not working. The running boards also act up occasionally.

The main problem happens on long highway trips (6+ hours)—a powertrain malfunction error pops up, and the car cuts power. It’s been in the shop four times, but they haven’t fixed it yet. It’s frustrating for a luxury vehicle that’s only a few years old.

2021 Limited owner here too! Is yours antimatter blue? It looks like we might have the same color. I’ve loved mine so far.

Mine’s black, but I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying yours!

Congrats! Ours is the same model. Just keep the service counter handy for transmission issues!

Congrats! I’ve got an ‘18 Max Limited with 67k miles, and it’s still running great. I always use 93 octane fuel—it seems to make the transmission smoother and adds a bit more power.

Thanks for the tip! Glad yours is holding up well.

Beautiful ride!

$40,000 OTD. The warranty was $4,000, and vehicle registration in my city was $850, which was higher than I expected.

Sharp ride. With all the downsizing in vehicles lately, it’s nice to see the Expedition still going strong. Hope you enjoy many carefree miles!

Hope you got an extended warranty. You might need it.

I got a 3-year warranty. Do you know if I can add an extended one later?

You can check with your dealer or go through an outside vendor. I bought a 2019 with 55k miles, and having a warranty saved me big when I had AC and transmission issues later.

I bought a 2019 with the 202A package. Had a major transmission issue right off the lot, but Ford fixed it under warranty—it would’ve been a $4,000 repair.
