Ford Protect… is it worth the $4,600?

I have a 2021 Expedition XLT 2WD with almost 60,000 miles. Ford is offering me the PremiumCare plan for $4,600, which would cover the next 4 years or 75,000 miles. They say it covers everything from bumper to bumper.

We plan to drive more than 20,000 miles a year, mostly highway trips. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with this program or thoughts on whether it’s worth the cost?

For reference, here’s the plan details: https://fordprotect.ford.com/extended-service-plan.

The only extended warranty I’d buy is the official Ford one. That said, it doesn’t cover everything. At around 60k miles, I had to pay out of pocket for a new serpentine belt, tensioner, and hose because the hose wasn’t covered and caused the damage.

Is $4,600 worth it to you?

@Oakley
It could be worth it if something major like the transmission failed, but I feel like these issues wouldn’t show up until later, after the warranty expires at 125k miles.

I bought a 2021 Expedition XLT FX4 recently and got the Ford PremiumCare plan for $3,900 (3 years/60k miles). I’ve already used it to replace the idler, tensioner, and belt.

How many miles did your vehicle have when you had to use it?

@Remy
80,000 miles.

I think it’s worth it. My Expedition had 60,000 miles when the sunroof stopped working. The repair cost $1,800, but with the warranty, I only paid $100. Plus, they gave me a rental car for a week at no charge. You can pay for the warranty in installments, and I’d absolutely recommend buying it from Ford.

If you’re not in Florida, you can buy the same Ford warranty from places like Lombard or Flood for much less.
