What do you all think about using Ford Expeditions (bigger than Explorers) as patrol vehicles? I know some agencies use them, but I’d like to hear opinions on how well they perform in that role.
We had one a while back. It was decent, but the biggest drawback is that it’s not pursuit-rated. That’s why most departments stick with vehicles like the Explorer, Tahoe, or Durango.

I’ve been hearing about some departments starting to use Durangos. I’d like to see how they work out—they seem like they’d make an ideal cruiser.

My husband drives a Durango for our department. He says it handles really well in pursuits.

Our department uses all Durangos for patrol. They’re basically just SUV versions of the Charger.
I don’t think they’re practical for every situation.

Lol, r/ihadastroke vibes from this comment. Care to elaborate?
I drive an Expedition for work, and I love the space. It’s perfect for what we need.
My agency mostly uses Expeditions, Tahoes, Silverados, and F150s/250s. They all hold up pretty well for patrol use.
