The Ford Expedition seems to bring out a lot of strong opinions. What do you all think it represents, and why does it seem to have such a reputation?
It’s like the ‘Is Pepsi OK?’ of SUVs… good, but not really anyone’s first choice.
Under 10 years old, yet somehow already being called a ‘winter beater.’ That’s kind of wild.
Perfect for soccer moms who are trying to look ‘too cool’ for a minivan. It’s a vibe.
Driving one of these and calling it a ‘war wagon’ when people joke about it being a bus or airport shuttle is peak Expedition owner behavior.
That Triton V8… it’s rough.

Basically an overhead cam Suburban, but somehow worse.

How dare you insult it… oh wait, yeah, you’re totally right.

Don’t forget the V10 option. Yikes.
You know the type… Texas families with 6 kids because ‘we leave it up to God to decide.’

Right before they realize they need an extended Econoline van. It’s the natural progression.

Definitely the Friday night lights mom-mobile.
Honestly, I think of youth pastors’ wives when I see these.
You just know Karen is parking it in the handicap spot at Walmart because her feet hurt from cheap stilettos. She’s ‘pretty sure it’s fine’ because she knows ADA laws better than anyone else.

This feels like it belongs in an oddly specific thread somewhere.
@Pax
Oddly specific stories are what makes forums like this great. Cars aren’t just cars; they’re tied to memories, good or bad. For me, Neons and Explorers are linked to some of the hardest times in my life, while old Ford pickups remind me of good times, bonfires, and cheap beer. That’s why we all come here and talk about them.
@Joey
Wow, thanks for sharing that perspective. Really puts it all into context.
It’s like Ford tried to one-up GM by making something bigger than the Tahoe but not quite Suburban-level.
Straight out of a video game… the Dundreary Landstalker vibe is real.
