Best way to clear snow off the roof of a big SUV?

This is our first winter with the Expedition. Like many of you, we’ve got a big family, so the two-car garage is full of everything except cars.

We’ve only had a couple of light snowstorms so far, but I’m realizing that clearing heavy snow off the roof is going to be a challenge. Does anyone have tips or creative methods? I’ve thought about using stilts or a step ladder to move along the sides while brushing it off. Suggestions appreciated!

Try an electric leaf blower.

I live in New England, and the snow here is often wet and heavy. Unfortunately, a leaf blower doesn’t do much against that.

I use a snow broom with a telescoping handle—works great, but I’m tall.

I have an Excursion, and I use a push broom to clear the snow off the roof. I’m not too worried about the paint since it gets some off-road use, but your mileage may vary.

That’s what I use too, but I’m too short for it to work well, haha.

I get it. I picked up an aluminum step from Harbor Freight to use for stuff like this—it’s a lifesaver for maintenance too.

Leave the snow in place. Nobody will tailgate you.

That’s illegal in my state (NH).

A sheet of ice came off a box truck on the highway and killed a girl in a car behind it. The law is named after her, and state troopers are strict about enforcing it.
