Hey everyone, looking at picking up a 2024 Expedition and hoping to get some insight on what kind of discount I should aim for as we near the end of the year. I’ve been seeing discounts ranging from $10k to $14k off MSRP over the past few months, but I’d love to hear your thoughts.
This forum helped me a ton when I was shopping for my 2024 Lightning Flash, so I’m hoping for a repeat before year-end! Let me know what you think.
It’s about $8k off MSRP, but in the lower 48, you could probably find $14-18k off. It might be worth considering shipping one down for $2-3k to save a few extra thousand.
@Wren
Shipping costs are at least $4k—trust me, I’ve checked many times. And that Wasilla one is already on my list. Soldotna and Anchorage have similar ones too.
@Wren
Alaska has limited inventory, so they might not budge much. If you’re willing to fly down, you could save more. A round-trip ticket, a one-night stay, and shipping the car back could run you around $5k, but you might save $7k overall. Sign the papers, eat dinner, fly home, and the car shows up in a couple of weeks. Worth considering!
Joe Cooper has multiple dealerships. Did they offer you a different unit? Usually, all their locations have similar pricing. Check their other sites in Oklahoma—they often have great deals.

They did, but I’ve been specifically searching for one with a second-row bench. It’s looking nearly impossible to find one.

Good luck with that search—it’s tough. I went through the same thing, looking for a non-Max with a bench in a Limited Stealth trim. Across most brands, high-end buyers seem to prefer captain’s chairs in the second row, which is frustrating if you need seating for seven or eight people. It’s crazy that we pay more for these SUVs, but they barely hold more people than a sedan!

I finally found one in Missouri. They want $69k out the door. Trying to justify spending that much just to get the bench.

How much do you love that one extra person you’d leave behind?
That’s what I think too, but it’s tough to figure out how car dealerships really work. I’ve gotten $10-20k off every vehicle I’ve bought over the last 20 years, and I always wonder if they’re actually selling at a loss or if there’s some hidden profit margin. Look at all the staff they have to pay—it can’t just be MSRP minus invoice pricing.
