Anyone Using Radar Detectors?

I’m thinking about installing a radar detector on my 2018 Expedition Max (Platinum). Anyone running one? Does it mess with any of the sensors or tech?

I use the Valentine One. No issues with sensors, but the windshield tint might affect it. Works great though, saved me a few tickets

I run the Uniden R7 on my 2018 Platinum. No interference with any tech, but pro tip: Mount it low on the windshield to avoid the lane-keep sensor.

Lol I’ve been running without a detector for years, just rely on good old-fashioned luck  Haven’t been caught yet… but maybe I should look into this before my luck runs out. Right?

I have used the Escort Max 360 for over a year, no issues with sensors at all.

Just be careful with radar detectors in Virginia or DC, they’ll confiscate it in a heartbeat. Annoying…

I once had issues with my detector messing up the adaptive cruise on my '19 and ended up moving it to the rearview mirror. But, depends on the brand.

Thanks for the tip on mounting it lower. That lane-keep sensor gets in the way of everything! I was looking at the Uniden R7. How’s it on long highway trips?

Works great on highways, picks up signals miles ahead. Also, it filters out false alerts from blind spot monitoring systems, which is handy. Definitely worth it for those long road trips.

My Valentine one also has the same filtering feature, makes a huge difference. Uniden’s solid too though, especially with the directional arrows. Makes it feel like you’ve got a cop radar yourself :joy:

Ha, I can imagine, might go with the Uniden then. You guys ever get false alarms from random sensors, like the parking sensors or blind spots?

Nope, Escort Max 360’s got pretty good filtering. I’d say 90% of the time it only picks up legit signals. I hear Uniden’s similar with their updates.

I get occasional false alerts on parking lots, but never on highways. If you’re driving around town a lot, maybe consider something with city/highway modes, like Radenso XP or Escort. Helps cut down on the noise.

So wait, you guys are saying these things are legit? Maybe my luck’s been running low this whole time :joy: I thought these things beep at every streetlight or squirrel in the road.

Haha, old detectors maybe, but modern ones are way better. They filter out all the nonsense. Only time mine beeps is when there’s actually a cop nearby… or a red light camera I didn’t notice :grimacing:

Yeah, man, tech’s come a long way. I used to have one that went off like crazy every time I hit a store parking lot, but now it’s almost silent unless there’s a real threat. Get with the times, dude.

Alright, you sold me. Time to upgrade before my luck runs out. Guess I’ll join the radar detector crew.
