Anyone got good tire suggestions for a 2019 Expedition with stock 22s?

I need an all-season tire that works well in snow and dry weather. It should be quiet and last a while. I know this might be a long shot, but I’m hoping for some recommendations!

Try Michelin LTX Defender.

Check out the MICHELIN Defender LTX M/S 2 in size 285/45 R22.

Yes, they’re very quiet.

I just put on 305/45R22 Michelin M/S 2. They’re super smooth and really quiet. Highly recommend! :smile:

@Huxley
The official sizes are:

  • 275/65R18 (XLT)
  • 275/55R20 (Limited)
  • 285/45R22 (King Ranch, Platinum)

If you go for a higher load rating, it might make the tire louder. Here’s a link to the specs:

@Ira
Discount Tire lets you go up to a 3% size difference safely. It’s worked out great for me! :+1:

Thanks again. Just confirming, are these quiet on the highway?

I’ve heard great things about the Michelin Defenders. I’m about to try these instead though: Discount Tire | Tires and Wheels for Sale | Online & In-Person.

They’ve got a rebate going on right now, and the reviews look solid.

@Merit
Appreciate it. I’ll check them out!

I’ve used both the Michelin Defenders and Pirelli Scorpions. Both are excellent tires, but I’ve had Defenders on three different Explorers (20-inch wheels), and they’ve been great.

How do the Defenders perform on the freeway? Are they quiet?

@Shan
Yes, they’re very quiet and smooth.

How’s your 2019 holding up? I’m looking at one, but it’s got 103,000 miles on it. Worth it?

Just a heads up—we’ve got a 2019 Platinum with 50,000 miles. The transmission has started shifting hard occasionally, but otherwise, it’s been fantastic.

So far, so good! Mine only has 38,000 miles. Currently getting the cam phasers fixed under the extended Ford warranty, so that’s a bonus. Still have two years left on it.

Are you sure a 4-season tire will be good enough for snow? They’re not always great in heavy winter conditions.

Good point! I just found out there’s a difference between all-season and all-weather tires. I’m leaning toward the Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive now. They seem better for snow.

Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV. Best tire I’ve ever had.
