Any 2021+ Ford Expedition Owners with Solid Reliability Up to 80-100k Miles?

Hey folks, I’m thinking about switching from my trusty minivan to a 2021+ Ford Expedition. I’ve seen a lot of posts about transmission problems and other major issues with these models, and it’s got me a bit worried. I’ve always driven Asian cars, and they’ve been pretty reliable for me. Is it common to have these issues with the Expedition, or are they just isolated cases? I’m looking for a reliable full-size SUV and would love to hear your experiences.

I’ve got a 2022 Expedition with about 85k miles and haven’t had any major issues so far. I’ve read about the transmission concerns too, but it seems like most of the problems are isolated. Definitely worth checking the warranty and doing regular maintenance to avoid surprises.

I had a 2021 Expedition that I traded in at 70k miles, and I didn’t face any big issues. But I remember transmission got a bit jerky around 60k, but a software update fixed it.

I’m on my second Expedition, a 2021, and I haven’t had any problems. The first one had some minor issues, but nothing major. I think if you keep up with the maintenance, you’ll be fine.

I’d say go for it if you like the SUV. My 2022 model has been great so far with no significant issues. The problems people mention might be due to occasional defects, but they’re not the norm.

Thanks for the insights… sounds like experiences vary a bit. I’m leaning towards getting a certified pre-owned with an extended warranty, just to be safe. Any advice on which specific models or trims to look for?

Good call on the warranty btw. As for trims, the Platinum is the top-tier with all the bells and whistles. If you’re looking for something more budget-friendly, the XLT might be a good option too.
