We got a 2023 Platinum Max, and it’s been amazing for our family of three kids. Tons of space for everything we need.
That sounds fantastic! I bet it’s a gorgeous ride.
Thanks! It’s my favorite vehicle so far. Got it steeply discounted because it was sitting on the lot as the 2024s came in. Couldn’t pass it up!
If you’re not towing, the regular Expedition doesn’t make much sense. A minivan offers the same seating and more trunk space for a lot less money. The Max/Suburban/XL size is the way to go if you’re buying one of these big SUVs because of the extra storage.
That’s an interesting perspective, thanks for sharing!
We’ve got a 2021 Max Limited with four kids (three car seats and one booster). We chose a bench instead of captains chairs because it gives us more seating. Even with car seats, the second row tips and slides, so getting to the third row is easy. With only two kids, the standard length should be fine unless you need all the seats for extra passengers often.
Thanks for the insight! I’m upgrading from a 4Runner and am really excited about the extra room.
We went with the Max, and we’re so happy with it.
Congrats! We ended up buying a Max yesterday! Once we saw the standard in person, it just didn’t feel big enough for us.
We’ve got a 2020 Platinum Max and love the space. But we had a transmission issue at 29,000 miles. It was covered under warranty, but dealing with it was a hassle.
That’s frustrating to hear. Glad it was covered, but still a pain.
Yeah, at least it didn’t cost us anything. The worst part was they wouldn’t give us a loaner car while it was in the shop for two weeks.
That’s really disappointing. I’ve heard of similar issues, and it does make me a little nervous about buying one.
Was it the regular powertrain warranty or an extended one you bought? I’m looking at getting one and want to make sure I get the right coverage.
It was covered under the normal 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. But after this, I’m definitely getting an extended warranty next time.
We ordered a 2023 Expedition Limited Max, and it’s been fantastic. After seeing how little space the standard size has with the third row up, we knew the Max was the right choice. With a toddler and another baby on the way, we somehow fill it up all the time. You won’t regret going with the Max.
Thanks for sharing! I’m feeling good about choosing the Max now.
Max for sure. The regular one looks like a short bus, and the extra cargo space makes a big difference. We’ve got two kids in car seats and use the extra room for our road trips from Florida to North Carolina. We pack a lot, and the Max fits it all.
I ended up buying a Sequoia but was seriously considering Expeditions. I love my truck, but sometimes I wish I’d gone with the Max. When traveling with my pets, I use a cargo hitch with a lockable chest. If I had the Max plus that setup, it’d be even better. I went with the Sequoia because I was buying used and wanted reliability.
